Penguin Relay Race!

This week in Storytime we have been having a 'Penguin Relay Race" in our older classrooms. The children waddle like a penguin as they race to get to a point and back again! It was so funny watching the kids do the penguin walk! Here are some pictures!

Where, Oh Where are my mittens?

This Week in Storytime: January 4th-January 8th

Our theme this week is Mittens! We have been reading some really great books about mittens!

"The Mitten" by Jim Aylesworth has been a big hit with our preschool classes this week!

Over the past couple of months I have been blown away about how excited the children get about books. The children love to tell me about the books that they have at home or that they have checked-out at the library! I love when the children ask questions about the characters or what is happening in the story! It is wonderful to see the anticipation in their eyes for what is coming next in the story!

Today in the Monkey class we played a game that reviewed are uppercase and lowercase letters. I was extremely excited to see how well the children were able to match the uppercase letters with the lower case letters. We also looked at words and picked out the letters in the words. The children were able to recognize the letter they were holding in the words! Well done!

Have a lovely week and stay warm!

Emily!

This Week in Storytime: December 7th-11th

This week in Storytime with the Toddlers we are playing a game called " Lets all do a little clapping". The toddlers, especially the ones in the Gator room had a lot of fun add new things in addition to clapping. One of the West Chester Gator class really enjoyed acting like dinosaurs and requested to do it twice.
The Pre-School classrooms played freeze dance to the " Dreidel Dreidel Dreidel Song". They also played the "Reindeer Pokey". They kids shook their hooves, antlers, and red noses! :D
Finally in the Pre-Kindergarten class we played the Dreidel game. Lots of laughter could be heard when someone won all the coins in the "pot".
Hope everyone is having a lovely holiday season.
